Saddles fix the conduit to the structure. Getting the type and the spacing right is what keeps a run straight, lets it move as it expands, and stops it sagging between supports over a hot summer.

Spacing
Secure horizontal runs at a maximum of 0.9m and vertical runs at a maximum of 1.2m. Reduce these in areas of high ambient temperature or where temperature changes rapidly. Where there are fittings or changes of direction, secure the conduit approximately 150mm either side to maintain support at the fitting.
Do not over-tighten
The saddle holds the conduit in position; it should not clamp it rigid. Over-tightening prevents thermal movement, which is precisely what causes bowed runs and cracked fittings. This matters most immediately either side of an expansion coupler, where the conduit has to be free to slide.
Types
Spacer bar saddles (AEMSB2–6) hold the conduit clear of the surface, which allows for painting behind and avoids trapping dirt and moisture against the wall. Strap saddles (AEMSS2–6) sit the conduit directly against the surface for a lower profile. Round U clips (IMMMC2–4) are the simple option for internal dry runs.
